Many filtration processes produce substances that adhere very strongly to the fibres of the filter cloths. Gypsum and other lime compounds in particular reduce the permeability of the filter cloths. Long filtration times, reduced throughput and poorer filtration results are just some of the consequences. However, these contaminants cannot be removed simply by cleaning with the high-pressure filter cloth washing plant. MSE Filterpressen® offers various solutions for fully automatic, chemical filter cloth cleaning (filter cloth acids) for filter presses, chamber filter presses, membrane filter presses and the various filter press derivatives.
Filter cloth acidification
FILTER CLOTH ACIDIFICATION FOR FILTER PRESSES
STATIC FILTER CLOTH ACIDIFICATION FOR FILTER CLOTH CLEANING
In classic filter cloth acidification, the acid previously prepared in a mixing station is fed into the inlet channel of the filter press. All outlets are closed. The acid acts on the filter cloths for approx. 16 hours. If necessary, acid dripping from the chamber filter press is automatically refilled. After acidification and subsequent rinsing of the filter cloths, the filtration process can be restarted and the filter press fed.
DYNAMIC FILTER CLOTH ACIDIFICATION FOR FILTER CLOTH CLEANING
With dynamic acidification, the acid previously prepared in the mixing station circulates through the plate package and the filter cloths of the filter press via a pump. This method is more effective because even deeper pores come into contact with the diluted acid during the process. After the cleaning cycle, the acid is returned to the two-chamber tank. A blocking section in the feed line is required so that the acid does not come into contact with the medium to be filtered. This plant essentially consists of the following components:
-
- Acid mixing station
-
- Two-chamber container with level measurements
-
- Circulation unit
BENEFITS (DYNAMIC FILTER CLOTH ACIDIFICATION)
- Shortening of the acidification cycle of approx. 16 to 2 hours
- Automatic tracking of the acid concentration possible
- Leak detection by level measurement
- Automatic rinsing of the filter press after acidification, also with pH control
- An acidification device can be used alternately for several filter presses
- The acid can be used several times
- The acid is filtered as it circulates in the press. Detached dirt particles remain in the filter press
